It looks really good. It just looks like it needs some final details added to it for more definition. It def looks professional, but it...

Knowledge is a process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification.
Martin H. Fischer

This is just a spontaneous journal entry, but something that's been on my mind as of late.
Simplification is something that seems so easy from the outside. Something that is so easy to look at and graphic in its style, but underneath is the extensive knowledge of fundamentals and design.
Simplification can be one of the most complex tasks an artist may put upon him/herself. True simplification takes the knowledge that one gains nailing the fundamentals and waters it down to its most basic understandable design.

Many beginning artists believe the process of learning begins with simplified styles and characters which then leads to more realistic things. This is actually reversed. Most artists who are famous for their unique style and vision were usually very solid in their knowledge of reality.
Take these examples from Glen Keane: Life Drawing and the simplification of his knowledge of reality.

As you can see, simplification becomes way more solid when someone has a history of studying reality.

Studying other styles isn't bad, but shouldn't be the only basis of study for an artist either. A combination of studying from life and studying from other artists is a good way to figure out the answers to questions on your own.

Studying from other artists alone will make your work less solid and less unique. A copy of a copy.

So I guess the general statement of this journal would be: "Study from life, and find your own voice."

Anyway, this is getting a little long so I'll end it here.

Good luck on your own journeys and keep up with the art!

~Bobby
